Stockport Junior Hockey Club is an England Hockey Club Firsts accredited club
Hockey training is provided at Werneth High School for boys and girls from age group Under 11 to Under 15. Players are arranged in small groups, based on age and ability, for effective coaching of skills and techniques.
We only use qualified coaches who have been CRB Checked and we have an excellent training program designed to teach a wide range of hockey skills and techniques. Coaching is suitable for all skill levels, from beginners through to more advanced players.
The junior training is run at Werneth High School as follows:-
Thursday evenings from 6.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
| Times of the sessions | |
| Under 11s ( beginners ) | 6-7pm |
| Years 7 & 8 (intermediate) | 6-7pm |
| Year 9 upwards (advanced) | 6-7pm |
U11; U13 and U15 boys and girls teams are entered in the local Greater Manchester Junior League which takes place at the Commonwealth pitch at Belle Vue, Manchester on Sundays from October to March. Teams are also entered into one-off tournaments which are arranged in the area.
Playing equipment such as sticks and balls are provided. Your child will need to provide his/her own playing kit and trainers, including warm clothing (e.g. tracksuit, sweatshirt, jogging pants etc). We strongly recommend players wear shin pads/gum shield, bring a drink with them and avoid wearing jewellery when training or playing.
